YOU ARE NOT AN ABSTRACTION

‘I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” Gal 2.21 NIV.
Legalism deconstructs God and deforms what could have been God into a not-god of abstractions by which we mean that legalism is a distortion that deforms what could have been the Gospel of the Kingdom into ‘the letter that kills’.
BENT LENS
The lens of legalism distorts the Christ and those who attach themselves to this false christ. It makes them timid when they could be confident and deluded in the false grace that they have made up in their contract and regulations style ‘grace.’ One way to dehumanise the self and others is to be a legalist.
A SUBORDINATED CHRIST
In legalism the law is sovereign and Jesus is subordinate to the law. It’s a cultural version of the charge ‘Are you really the Son of God’. Not openly atheistic legalism, just robs Christ of content so that the christ to which we attach is not the Christ of God but paper cut-out of a written down cunningly devised fable.
SPLIT LIFE
As John warns, the source of the flesh come in the flesh gospels is the antichrist. The nature of the flesh come in the flesh is the neutralisation of Christ come in us, so that people automatically embrace dualism – a self that is imagined to be separate from God and a self that works incessantly to manufacture union with God. But the folly of this is that since the cross in the person of Jesus we have union with God.
But Jesus is one with God and with man.
DUALISM EXPOSED AND REJECTED
‘I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” Gal 2.21 NIV. A law basis negates Christ and leaves us with an ideology.
SEPARATION FROM GOD UNDONE
“The homoousion had the effect of rejecting dualist modes of thought and securing the wholeness and reality of Christ's human nature, upon which the wholeness and reality of our salvation depend.
This is particularly important for our understanding of the consubstantiality of the incarnate Son with God the Father, as we shall see, for it binds creation and redemption together in such a way that the creation is anchored in the love of God himself as its ultimate ground.
Not to agree to the ontic oneness between Christ and God has the effect of rejecting this essentially Christian outlook upon God, creation, and redemption. Everything finally depends, then, upon the genuineness and actuality of the humanity of the incarnate Son in his oneness in being with God the Father.” Christ’s oneness in being with the Father is our oneness in being with Jesus.
CHRIST INCLUDES US
Your union with God is effected in Jesus Christ. Participating in the divine nature happens because Christ has made us one with Himself – not because we have kept the law, been moral or been on mission trips. Rest for human restlessness is yours because Christ has done the work of joining you to God in Himself. You take on Godliness because God is in you imparting His nature to His daughters and sons. You are growing into who you really are as a self because your personal Jesus is imparting your true design to your person.
